A gorgeous city with a few wonderful bars.
My favorite cocktails in all of Japan are served here at Bar Nayuta. They served me a savory scotch and mezcal cocktail with Osmanthus that was the best cocktail I have ever had in Japan. I rarely finish a drink and this was the first cocktail I finished in quite a longs time. The owner here is extremely talented and the staff here are also very good. There is no cocktail menu and the staff do not speak English very well, but they do speak English manageably. That does not seem to deter foreign guest from coming to visit and having a good time. The entrance is speakeasy style. You open this half door and crouch down to enter. It is a bit odd but the cocktails are superb and well worth the trip over. It does get quite busy but people seem to come in waves so if you go and it is full, it won’t be a waste of time to try again later that night.

Nearly everything in the bar is over 100 years old including the stairs as you enter. With this backdrop you would guess their cocktails are classic cocktails not modern, and you would be correct.

The cocktails here are not particularly good, but they have a great selection of scotch at excellent prices. I had a great time sampling drams from their back bar.
