Description
Nose : We were greeted by a wonderful complex nose neat; sun soaked raisins, sticky toffee pudding, honeyed cashew nuts and three fruit marmalade. With time we were rewarded with aromas of slightly burned cinnamon toast and a cherry walnut loaf.
Taste : The taste does not disappoint, very chewy like a cinnamon stick and sweet with a hint of bitterness – Brazil nuts covered in dark chocolate
Finish : in the finish a mild Indian curry mix.
With water : Be very careful adding water; the nose initially turns slightly soapy and sour before sweeter notes of milk chocolate, Madeira cake and scented wood replace it. The taste is now that of oranges and after dinner mints, it melts in your mouth. One Panel member described this sample from the oldest distillery in Dufftown as very ‘unctuous!’
