Ah yes, when malt whisky and sherry create effects like this … what can we say?…. just enjoy it!
Whisky matured in sherry casks that will transport you back in time to the quayside of a dock in some 18th century city. Amsterdam, Queen of the Seas…crossing the canals at a brisk pace to reach the port, we stumble upon exotic, unfamiliar but pleasant aromas… with a hint of the forbidden, but irresistible. So, your curiosity piqued and your sense of adventure keen, push your nose into the glass to smell this whisky. You’ll find a succession of aromas and essences that are perhaps a little hurried, but all to the point and serving the right purpose… burnt sulphur and spices of every sort imaginable. You simply need to be patient, this is the aromas just opening up, preparing you for the tasting stage which will surely compose the arrangement of notes already naturally detected by the nose into a far more complex symphony than smell alone can create. We imagine foodstuffs from Borneo, coffee and sugar from the Americas, goods from Asia Minor and the Arabian Nights. A place in great ferment that arduously and quietly inspires a longing for adventure.
Wherever your travels take you, don’t forget to always follow that scent trail left by spices…
