Best Bars in New Orleans

The birth place of many of many classic cocktails I love.

1. Kingfish

Type: Low Volume Restaurant Bar
Location: 337 Chartres St., New Orleans, LA 70125 - map
Website: http://www.cocktailbarneworleans.com

Having a few drinks from Chris McMillian is roughly what I planned my trip to New Orleans around. His reputation as a bartender preceded him as someone with a vast knowledge of cocktail history, amiable demeanor and skill in crafting a cocktail. All points are well deserved. If you go saddle up to the bar and prepare to have a few more drinks then you planned on. The cocktails he serves are mainly classics.

2. Cure

Type: Medium Volume Restaurant Bar
Location: 4905 Freret St., New Orleans, LA - map
Website: http://www.curenola.com

Cure is more bar with food than restaurant. Not really a gastropub. A bit more modern looking than that. The list is pretty much all modern cocktails. Order from Kirk if you can.

3. Arnaud's French 75

Type: Low Volume Restaurant Bar
Location: 813 Bienville St., New Orleans, LA - map
Website: http://www.arnaudsrestaurant.com

This restaurant has a beautiful bar that is divided from the restaurant and very much acts like a separate entities. It is a bit too well lit in my opinion, but it does go with this bar's high society look. The bar mainly severs very well made classic cocktails. Order from Chris Hannah if you can.
